Over-50s at work: 'You feel your usefulness has passed'

I've been assured by my tutors that this is not the case in Landscape Architecture, let's find out in the next few months as I seek an internship or part-time position. I wonder what the rational behind it is? Can't teach an old dog new tricks?... Can't bring fresh, new ideas to the table?...Can't manage the workload? At this point in my life, I have travelled the world, worked in 3 different countries, liaised with clients of all ages and social demographic, managed teams of people and kept on studying whilst raising a family. Surely, I must have some useful & transferrable skills.... rant over!😊
