Whilst the issue needs to be addressed by local council and then planning, their funding is so overstretched, bringing experts and specialists in the field of designing for safer streets is expensive. If every Landscape Architect & Urban Planner could become a specialist or a voice, could this be a game changer?
Just by researching briefly about street lighting, I have learnt that lighting alone is not the answer. It has to be strategic and can sometimes be detrimental. I thought seating should be comfortable to encourage people to sit for longer, but where it is placed is important. So many considerations and I've barely touched the surface!
