Rainbow Woods, Bath

Having spent a bit of time looking into the play area in Pittville Park and the design statement, I started to think about whether the design really was fitting for such a historical and iconic space in Cheltenham. Whilst walking a section of a route called the Bath Skyline, I passed an alternative play area developed within the National Trust woodlands, called Rainbow Woods.
What struck me was how free it was, made from fallen trees, with rope swings and a den building area, stepping stones set within a small disused quarry which used to form part of a big estate in the 19th Century. This playground is a well used space and enjoyed by many different aged children, allowing them to play, explore and imagine in a natural environment. I wonder if this would have been a more fitting environment for young adventures?
