Studio Dreitseitl (now Ramboll Studio Dreitseitl)

Annie Watson

This 40 year old practise integrates natural systems with urban spaces, creating a vibrant public realm. Their aim is to create communities, put people in touch with nature and want their designs "to be a source of learning, pleasure, health and well-ness". (http://www.dreiseitl.com/en/start)

Looking through their website, it seems art is still very important to the designers and they seem to blend art and sustainable technology through their concepts & masterplans.

There are studios in Germany, Copenhagen, China & Singapore and their projects seem to often be waterside developments. Their projects try to bring natural waterside developments into the urban setting.

Tanner Springs Park, Portland USA, is an award winning park designed on a former wetland and uses innovative water management to tackle storm water. It also has a floating art and performance platform. The park offers a small, natural refuge in the city of Portland. This has been a useful project to investigate for my design for Alney Island..
