Yves Brunier was a reluctant Landscape Architect, he wanted to focus on the built form, but was persuaded to collaborate on several Landscape projects predominantly in Belgium, France and the Netherlands. He used collage to communicate conceptual ideas, impressively bold forms and colourful abstract backgrounds. His work has been described as angry and aggressive which has been translated into the idea that Brunier was an angry young man; angry at the World around him and also, the disease, AIDS, which was killing him. His work has really grabbed and excited me, I love the use of different media to communicate ideas and concepts, moving away from recognised methods of telling a story. I was also interested in his collage work because I'm slightly obsessed with DADAism and I can see this movement at play in his work. Sadly, Brunier died aged 28, in 1991.
